Indian Maritime University conducts a national level common entrance test for admission to various UG, PG, and Diploma courses offered by different campuses of IMU and 21 other affiliated institutes. The exam is online and computer-based and conducted twice every year.

The common entrance test consists of 6 sections namely- English, General Knowledge, General Aptitude, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The exam is of 200 marks and 200 questions i.e. each question carries one mark.
